METHOD AND DEVICE FOR MANAGING CONTENT CIRCULATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To relieve users of the burden of obtaining license; to reduce the processing time required for the issuance of license and the costs of equipment and operation; to overcome the limits (spoofing) of authentication methods; and to improve the ways in which capsule content is purchased and used.

SOLUTION: This method for managing content circulation includes encrypting digital content using a predetermined encryption key to distribute capsule content processed for copyright protection, and issuing license to each user to prevent unauthorized use of the digital content. The encryption key is created using both an individual key that uses user identification information for identifying each user of the digital content and a server key that is held secret by a server distributing the digital content. Using the encryption key, the capsule content individualized for each user is created and the license including the encryption key is issued to each user.
