<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discriminate an intelligent feeder from other feeders by few wirings while a mounting machine body recognizes whether or not the intelligent feeder having any kind feeder is connected to any feeder driving-signal path, and to conduct a control corresponding to the kind of the intelligent feeder in a surface-mounting machine mounting an electronic part fed from the feeder on a printed board. <P>SOLUTION: The surface-mounting machine has a mounting-machine control circuit 21, a feeder control circuit 22 and the feeder driving-signal path 23. The surface-mounting machine further has a feeder-state signal path 24 and a communication path 25.
