PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hinge apparatus for an electronic instrument, which is compact and has a simple structure by contriving the position for arranging a switch. SOLUTION: In the electronic instrument having hinge apparatuses 7 for rotatably connecting a first case and a second case (One of them is a case 4.), a switch 8 and a switch ring 9 are mounted on the hinge apparatus. The switch is received in a storing section 7a of the hinge apparatus. The switch ring is fitted on the small diameter cylindrical portion 7b of the hinge apparatus so as to relatively rotate. A part of a flexible substrate (FPC) is received in the hinge apparatus. Conductor exposed portions 6a, 6b of the FPC are connected to first contacts 8b, 8c of the switch, respectively. When the first case, a camera 3, and the hinge apparatus turn with resect to the second case, a second contact 8d is brought into contact with the first contact by being pushed by the switch ring.
