PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum valve which prevents the deterioration of insulation performance of an insulation cylinder inside surface and simultaneously down-sizes the dimension in its diametric direction. SOLUTION: A vacuum vessel is formed of an insulation cylinder 1 and metal end plates 2, 3 joined to both ends of the insulation cylinder 1. The vacuum vessel houses a fixed electrode 5 and a traveling electrode 7 which are contactable with and separable from each other. In the vacuum valve in which an arc shield 9 is arranged around the electrodes 5, 7, circular protrusions 1a are installed on an inner surface which is not covered with the arc shield 9 of the inside surface of the insulation cylinder 1.
