PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rising and falling stick type indicating device having high operational reliability although it is simply and compactly structured, and also having excellent durability. SOLUTION: This indicating device is equipped with a base 1, an operating stick 2 supported so as to freely rise and fall with the stick inserted through the base, and allowed to have a force for restoring a rising condition, a reflector 10 fixed to the operating stick in an attitude perpendicular to the axial center, and one or two and more reflecting type photoelectric sensors 12 disposed on the base so as to face the reflector and formed by placing a pair of light projecting and receiving elements. An inclined surface 10c is formed at a position facing the light projecting and receiving elements on the reflector 10, and the one or two and more reflecting type photoelectric sensors 12 are disposed on a plane perpendicular to the axis of the operating stick 2 in the rising condition. Thereby, only when the operating stick 2 falls in a prescribed direction, a quantity of light entering into the light receiving element of the corresponding photoelectric sensor 10 exceeds a regulated quantity.
