PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a good recording equality thin film magnetic head wherein the vertical and in-plane direction components of a recording magnetic fields are properly controlled, an HGA equipped with the thin film magnetic head, and a magnetic disk driving device equipped with the HGA. SOLUTION: This magnetic head is provided with a lower magnetic pole layer, a gap layer, an upper magnetic pole layer facing the lower magnetic pole layer via the gap layer, and a coil conductor for supplying a magnetic flux to the gap layer via the lower and upper magnetic pole layers. A centroid position within the plane of the upper magnetic pole layer is in the same position of a centroid position within the plane of the lower magnetic pole layer, or on an ABS side rather than the centroid position within the plane of the lower magnetic pole layer, and moved in an ABS direction near the upper surface of the upper magnetic pole layer.
