PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recognition device capable of improving the reduction of a recognition ratio when the number of registered images is small. SOLUTION: A registered image management part 2 extracts all registered images of an inputted individual name from a registered image database 3 and outputs all the registered images and the number of registered images respectively to a collation part 51 and a collation method specification part 52. The collation method specification part 52 refers to the pair data of the numbers of registered images which are stored in a collation method database 53 and collation methods and selects a collation method. The collation part 51 inputs a collating face image from an image input part 11, inputs registered images from the registered image management part 2, inputs the collation method selected by the collation method specification part 52, and calculates a distance between the collating face image and each registered image. When the smallest value out of m distances is less than a threshold, the collation part 51 judges that the collating face image is an individual face previously registered by a user.
