PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a display grade by arranging subfields in order of the greater luminance weights from the middle of a period of one field toward both ends. SOLUTION: At the time of displaying animation images by using the flat-panel display, constituting one field of a plurality of the subfields varying in luminance, displaying the images of the one field having gradations by a combination of the subfields and continuously displaying the images, a configuration comprising arranging the subfield of the maximum luminance at nearly the middle of the period of the one field, bisecting the subsequent subfields and arranging one thereof on the front side of the subfield arranged in the middle and the other on the rear side thereof, respectively, is employed for the configuration of the one field and is provided with the display gradations to cause the light emission of both within the period of the one field relating to a part of the subfields among the bisected subfields and to cause the light emission of only the one thereof within the period of the one field relating to the other subfields,.
