PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device, capable of obtaining an optimum display image at all times by automatically correcting deviation in phase relation due to temperature variation and time change, and its control method, and a projection type display device. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device which employs a multi-pixel (six pixels in this embodiment) simultaneous writing system performs feedback processing wherein scan pulses R_SOUT, G_SOUT, and B_SOUT outputted from LCD panels 11R, 11G, and 11B of R, G, and B are inputted to a driving IC 21 supplying those pulses 11R, 11G, and 11B with various timing signals to measure delay quantities (delay time) GDFT of the scan pulses R_SOUT, G_SOUT, and B_SOUT from respective optimum states, and the delay quantities are reflected on pulses (pulse-width control clock pulse DCK) sampling and holding a video signal.
