PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a map-matching method capable of specify a form on a digital map at a high speed, with less use of memory capacity, even if many nodes are contained in form data. SOLUTION: In map matching, a linear form is made to correspond to the map data of an own digital map, using the form data in which the position information of nodes arrayed on the linear form of the digital map is arranged. The form data is divided into a plurality of blocks, and map matching is performed in units of blocks. (a) The number of combinations of three candidate points comes to be 729 for the form data containing six nodes; however (b) if it is divided into three blocks, the number of combinations of candidate points becomes 27, faster process becomes possible, and less use of memory capacity will do.
