PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring instrument which can also display the extreme value of measured values in addition to measured values varying sequentially. SOLUTION: The measuring instrument measures a predetermined physical amount sequentially with the passage of time based on a measured signal, comprising: a measured value calculating means which computes the measured value of physical amount; an extreme value update memory means which updates a memory of a new extreme value sequentially, comparing the measured value acquired by the measured value calculating means with a local extremal value which itself memorized previously; and an indication means which displays the new extreme value only in a prescribed period when the extreme value update memory means memorizes a new extreme value, while displaying the measured value varying sequentially with the passage of time.
