摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and its instrument for simply measuring the decomposition rate of carbon dioxide being a useful chemical industry material and also a causative agent of global warming. SOLUTION: This method for measuring the decomposition rate of carbon dioxide is characterized in that a pulse reactor directly coupled to a gas chromatograph is filled with a catalyst, a definite amount of carbon dioxide is pulse-introduced several times at a prescribed temperature onto the catalyst, and a rate is measured when the carbon dioxide is catalytically cracked into carbon monoxide and a surface oxygen species. This instrument for measuring the decomposition rate of carbon dioxide is characterized by being equipped with, as constituent elements, a means for pulse-introducing a definite amount of carbon dioxide into the catalyst, the pulse reactor for performing cracking reaction of carbon dioxide by means of the catalyst, an oven for heating the reactor at a prescribed temperature, a means for separating generated gas emitted from the reactor and reactive gas (carbon dioxide) from each other and determining the quantity thereof, and a means for integrating the result of quantity determination.
