PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader for reading the image information of an image information carrier O with the use of an image sensor 11 by moving mirror bases 1a and 1b holding optical systems 8 and 9a to 9c, which effectively restrains the radiation of noise electric wave exceeding allowance from the moving mirror base 1a so as not to cause failure in nearby electronic equipment such as a radio receiver and a television receiver, and stably keeps such an effect over a long term. SOLUTION: A conductive member 2 for grounding the mirror base 1a by conductively contacting and sliding on the fixed structural body 13 of the image reader within a prescribed range C-E in the moving section H-E of the mirror base 1a is attached to the mirror base 1a or a conductive member for grounding the mirror base by conductively contacting and sliding on the mirror base within the prescribed range in the moving section of the mirror base is attached to the fixed structural body of the image reader.
