BLOOD VESSEL SEALING INSTRUMENT FOR OPEN OPERATION WITH CUTTING MECHANISM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrosurgical forceps for an open operation, having a simple structure, having reliability and inexpensive in manufacture.

SOLUTION: The electrosurgical forceps 10 for the open operation has a pair of shaft members 12 and 20 having jaw members 62 and 64 movable so as to separate and grasp a tissue. The jaw members have respectively conductive sealing plates 68 and 68 for transmitting electrosurgical energy via the tissue held between these members. An actuator 40 is arranged for selectively advancing a cutting instrument to at least one next position on the distal side from a first position of the proximal side by passing through a cutting slot arranged in at least one of the jaw members. The actuator has a trigger assembly for cooperating with a pulley and a cable system so as to advance the cutting instrument to a second position from the first position by passing through the tissue held between the mutual jaw members.
