PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable-wavelength light source high in vibration resistance and suitable for use with a holographic memory device. SOLUTION: The variable-wavelength light source 1 has a light emitter 3 provided on a substrate 2 for emitting a plurality of single-wavelength lights. The light emitter 3 comprises a plurality of surface emitting elements 4, 4 each for a wavelength to be emitted by the light emitter 3 arranged near each other on the substrate 2. Specifically, each of the surface emitting elements 4, 4 of the light emitter 3 emits the light of a particular wavelength toward virtually the same position in the irradiated body.
