PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure excellent maintainability and sustain stable image quality by uniformizing a cleaning operation and a cleaning force in cleaning, thereby exhibiting stable cleaning capability, and by preventing charging of parts to be cleaned. SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes a transfer means having a transfer roller which transfers a toner image on a photoreceptor drum to paper, and a transfer-means holding means. In the image forming apparatus, the transfer means is detachably composed in the axial direction of the transfer roller while being guided by the transfer-means holding means. The transfer means is provided with a conductive cleaning member which, when the transfer means is attached or detached, cleans a destaticizing needle or the like set on the transfer-means holding means. Alternatively, a conductive cleaning member can be attached to a jam removal tong or the like provided for the transfer means or the image forming apparatus. The transfer means or tong, which has the cleaning member attached thereto, is mounted in the part of the transfer-means holding means, where the transfer means is mounted, thereby cleaning the destaticizing needle or the like set on the transfer-means holding means.
