WHEELCHAIR, BRAKE UNIT THEREFOR, AND BRAKE UNIT FOR MANUALLY-PROPELLED VEHICLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheelchair to surely brake wheels when a user stands up from the seat of the wheelchair. SOLUTION: The wheelchair 10 is equipped with a pair of manual brakes to respectively brake rear wheels 20, 22 at both front sides. The cloth made seat part 14 is laterally set on a frame 12 of the wheelchair 10. A seating sensor switch to detect a user sitting on the seat part 14 is equipped on the seat part 14. Electric brake units 36 are set inside the rear wheels 20, 22. The electric brake units 36 are switched between a braking mode to apply braking force onto the rear wheels 20, 22 and a releasing mode to release braking force applied onto the rear wheels 20, 22 by a control signal from a control circuit. A manual operation part 42 operated by a nursing person to turn ON/OFF the electric brakes 36 is equipped on a hand pushing handle 26.
