The invention comprises compounds of the general formula <FORM:0904484/IV (b)/1> wherein R is hydrogen or alkyl and n is 1 or 2 with the proviso that when n=1 the hydroxy group in the phenyl group linked to nitrogen atom is not ortho to the nitrogen atom; and a process for their preparation by reacting an amino phenolic compound with 3-hydroxy-2-napthoyl halide. Examples describe the preparation of 3,31 and 3,41-dihydroxy- and 3,21,61- and 3,31,51-trihydroxy- 2-naphthanilidine and 3, 41-dihydroxy-31-methyl-2-naphthanilide. |
