PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric double layer capacitor using the useless space of a polarizable electrode periphery effectively to increase electrostatic capacity more than that of conventional products having the same shape in an electric double layer capacitor that is formed by stacking two plate-like polarizable electrodes through a separator to house them inside an exterior member. SOLUTION: The contact area between a first polarizable electrode and a separator is different from the contact area between a second polarizable electrode and the separator.
