PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a superconducting state is lost due to heat infiltration from a heat-insulating tube into a superconducting cable because a difference in diameter between an inner tube and an outer tube of the heat-insulating tube is 15-30 mm and because this limits a space for insulating layer arrangement and makes unavailable a sufficient thickness necessary for satisfying heat-insulating requirements. SOLUTION: The heat-insulating tube for a superconducting cable comprises an inner tube for flowing a refrigerant; a heat-insulating layer of a heat-insulating tape, which is a laminate of a polymer film having a vapor-deposited metal layer on its either or both surfaces and the net lace of an organic material having a mesh size number of 5-30, spirally wound on the outside of the inner tube; and an outer tube provided on the outside of the heat-insulating layer. The thickness of the heat-insulating layer is≥9 mm, and the lamination density in the direction of its thickness is≥2.5 sheets/mm but≤4.5 sheets/mm. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
