PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder pressure detection device for an internal combustion engine capable of obtaining exact real time indicated mean effective pressure by reducing calculation load of an arithmetic unit in calculating indicated mean effective pressure of an internal combustion engine provided with a variable compression ratio mechanism. SOLUTION: A standard stroke position L of a piston is calculated according to detected crank angle by searching a standard stroke position table established according to crank angle CA. Stroke change amount Y which is variable amount from the standard stroke of the piston by the variable compression ratio mechanism is calculated according to drive signal of the actuator 7, and indicated mean effective pressure Pmi is calculated based on the standard stroke position, the stroke change amount Y and detected cylinder pressure PCYL.
