PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a cigarette storing device in which troubles of a belt conveyer frequently happen in a time when the device is empty or not so much occupied. SOLUTION: This storing device 1 with variable capacity comprising an endless circulating belt conveyer 5 having a conveying part 8 and a returning part 11, a regulating device 12 complementarily regulating the conveying part 8 and the returning part 11, and at least one actuating device 37 or 38 for transmitting power to the conveyer 5 to drive the belt conveyer 5, wherein the storing device 1 has a regulating device 46 which regulates the maximum value of the transmitting power to the belt conveyer 5 by using the maximum limiting value introduced as a function of the storing level GR of the storing device 1.
