PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a coating material which maintains a good coating performance while keeping a high coating speed even when a low-boiling diluent is not used. SOLUTION: The method for producing the coating material comprises coating while sol containing a vinyl chloride-based resin is extruded on a substrate surface. By the method, the adhesiveness of the sol and the substrate surface is improved, and uneven coating or the growth of a clot caused by leakage from a blade is prevented even if the sol has high viscosity.
