PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means preventing any bad effect on other grain polishing apparatuses when a removal rice bran suction air for one arbitrary grain polishing apparatus is interrupted, in case of adopting a bran removing system of a centralized piping system. SOLUTION: To a grinding type rice cleaning treatment portion 24 and a friction type rice cleaning treatment portion 68 of a vertical type rice cleaning apparatus 10, a bran removing duct 90 and a bran removing branching duct 92 for removing bran by the removal rice bran suction air are connected. To the bran removing duct 90, a removal rice bran suction air interrupting device 94 containing a suction interrupting plate 98 opening and closing a duct and a secondary air interrupting plate 104 opening and closing a secondary air intake 102 is connected. Accordingly, when the rice cleaning treatment finishes, it is possible to prevent rice grain from remaining at each rice cleaning treatment portion 24, 68, and to secure the quality by closing the suction interrupting plate 98 and opening the secondary air interrupting plate 104. Further, under the system where a plurality of vertical type rice cleaning apparatuses 10 are arranged side by side and the bran removal is carried out in the centralized piping system, even if the removal bran suction air of a arbitrary vertical type rice cleaning apparatus 10 is interrupted, an open air is sucked in from the secondary air intake 102, which has no bad effect on other vertical type rice cleaning apparatuses.
