PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a soil pollution restoration method for efficiently and economically decontaminating soil polluted with cyanides on site by using microorganisms. SOLUTION: After digging an area polluted with cyanides, the polluted soil is decontaminated on site by utilizing the activity of the microorganisms. This soil pollution restoration method comprises a first process and a second process. In the first process, the dug soil is treated by a classifying means and is classified to grains (A) containing one or more kinds of species among nitrogen-containing nutrient components, heavy metals or toxic organic compounds by a small amount which does not hinder activation of a cyan-degrading microorganism and grains (B) containing one or more kinds among nitrogen-containing nutrient components, heavy metals or toxic organic compounds by a larger amount which hinders activation of the cyan-degrading microorganism. In the second process, the soil consisting of the grain (A) obtained by classification is supplied with nutrient materials to decompose the cyanides by the microorganisms.
