<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous ink composition suitable for inkjet recording inks, which is high in storage stability when allowed to stand for a long time/at an elevated temperature, high in discharge stability in using an inkjet printer, and excellent in permeability/drying nature/color development irrespective of the kinds of recording media. <P>SOLUTION: The aqueous ink composition comprises a coloring component, 2-ethyl-1,3-hexane diol, and water.
