<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat exchanger and a method for electrochemically controlling the same capable of eliminating concern about water pollution, minimizing attachment of organisms on a heat exchanging member, as much as possible, and maintaining a heat exchange function over a long period of time. <P>SOLUTION: A part of the heat exchanger or an entire of the heat exchanging member is formed of a base material with oxide coating formed thereon, and serves as a working electrode to be an antifouling surface. A counter electrode is arranged so as to be energized in a position which is not short-circuited with the heat exchanging member. If necessary, a reference electrode is arranged so that a potential of the working electrode can be measured, and a power source for applying the potential between the working electrode and the counter electrode is provided so that direct electron transfer reaction between the working electrode and the organisms are generated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
