The pipeline laying method uses at least one float pipe (12,13), which is attached to the pipeline (11) to be laid underwater, for providing a pipeline system which is drawn across the water, before flooding the float pipe so that the pipeline system sinks to the seabed. The pipeline is partially filled before the pipeline system is drawn across the water, so that the latter lies below the water surface, with evacuation of the pipeline before the float pipe is flooded.
