A drive for a rotatable crockery-holder in a dish-washing machine comprises a ring 3 on the periphery of the crockery-holder 2, against which is pressed a motor-driven friction roller 4 made from a resilient material. The friction roller 4 is driven through a belt and pulley gearing by an electric motor 16, and is resiliently pressed against the ring 3, the latter being held against the roller 4 by means of an arm (not shown) located on the bearing 6 of the rotatable crockery holder and abutting against the closed door of the washing compartment.
