<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating having superior oxidation resistance even at 1,000[deg.]C or higher, extremely adequate abrasion resistance and high hardness. <P>SOLUTION: The coating with high abrasion resistance and high hardness comprises a coating layer of metal nitride formed on the outer surface of an article to be treated, an underlayer of the nitride of Ti or Cr formed between the coating layer and the article to be treated, and an intermediate layer which is arranged in the interface between the coating layer and the underlayer, and which includes the component of the coating layer and the underlayer contacting with the intermediate layer.
