A loudspeaker stand has a tubular support pillar (4). Located within the hollow pillar are a pair of wedge shaped inserts (3). The inserts are rigidly affixed to the internal sides of the pillar via clamping means and screws (1). The pillar has a plurality of curved grooves cut into the inner wall (8 Fig 3). Vibrations emanating from the speakers pass from the wedge inserts to the inner wall of the tube. The shape and size of the grooves is selected to maximise the desired resonant harmonics of the system. In an alternate embodiment a rubber damper (9 Fig 6) may be used in conjunction with a screw threaded member (10) to fine tune the system. In another embodiment (figures 7 and 8), a plurality of air filled chambers (13) may be inflated to alter the damping characteristics of the system. |
