Method for preparing L-amino acids (I) by fermenting coryneform bacteria, preferably recombinant, in which one or more of the following genes (A), involved in nitrogen metabolism, is/are increased in activity, especially overexpressed; amt; ocd; soxA and/or sumT. An independent claim is also included for coryneform bacteria in which at least one (A) is increased in activity, particularly overexpressed.
