After emerging from an extruder a tubular film bubble (12) is supported by a number of small disks (16) fitted with bristles. The disks (16) are arranged on a curved shaft (11) and the bristles are trimmed to provide contact round a circular circumference. The bristles are spaced to allow good airflow through them. The shaft (11) surface has good running properties in order to allow the disks to rotate freely. The bristles can be of synthetic or natural filaments and can be inclined backwards from the running direction by 2 to 50[deg]. In an alternative arrangement the disks (16) run on a hollow shaft carrying additional cooling air that is blown through holes in the disk on to the film. |
