The invention comprises steroids of the pregnane 5α, 5# or #<SP>5(6)</SP> series having a 3- hydroxy or acyloxy group, a 20-keto group, an 11-hydroxy or keto group and at C 16 and C 17 an alkylenediazo grouping, said compound having a D ring with substituents as shown in the formula wherein R represents hydrogen or an alkyl group containing 1 to 5 carbon atoms, and the preparation thereof by reacting the corresponding 16(17)-ene compounds with diazomethane (in the case where R represents hydrogen) or with a diazoalkane containing 2 to 6 carbon atoms (in the case where R represents an alkyl group containing 1 to 5 carbon atoms). |
