Longitudinal measurement device that can be positioned on a machine reference surface, especially for alignment and adjustment of cutting tools in machine tools with a control unit. The longitudinal measurement device has a longitudinal measurement arrangement with an interface to the machine tool control unit that serves for transfer of measurement values to the control unit. An independent claim is included for a corresponding plastic or wood processing or machining tool.
