PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new cycloergostance derivative exhibiting an antifungal activity against pathogenic fungi and useful as a medicine, an agrochemical or a raw material for converting into the medicine, the agrochemical, etc., by culturing a microorganism belonging to the genus Emericella. SOLUTION: A new cycloergostane derivative of the formula (R<1> is H; R<2> is OH; R<1> and R<2> together express a single bond). The derivative of the formula has an antiphongal activity against pathogenic fungi, and can be expected to be useful as a medicine, an agrochemical or a raw material for converting into the medicine or agrochemical. The compound is obtained by culturing a microorganism (e.g. Emericella heterohallica ATCC 16824 strain) having an ability to produce the cycloergostane derivative of the formula and subsequently collecting the product from the culture product. |
