PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable device having a built-in battery of which the life is made long as much as possible. SOLUTION: Six ink cartridges 21 (21-1, 21-2,...) each containing one of six colors K, Y, M, C, LM, LC, are loaded to a cartridge loading section in a portable printer 20, a print head 22 is driven by means of a timing belt 23 by a battery 25 to be reciprocated in the right and left directions along a guide shaft 24, to perform the printing. An auxiliary battery 26 having a discrimination mark 27 provided at one end thereof and external dimensions the same as those of the ink cartridge 21 is loaded to a position where an ink cartridge which is not used in the present printing is to be loaded (the ink cartridges of colors LM, LC are to be loaded). When an external power source is connected thereto, the external power source is priorly used. When the external power source is not connected thereto and the auxiliary battery 26 is existing, the auxiliary battery 26 is priorly used. |
