Disk brake comprises a brake disk, a caliper (1) supporting a brake application shaft (5) actuated by a rotating lever and lying perpendicularly to an axis of rotation (2.1) of the brake disk, a pressure screw (9) belonging to an adjusting device and transferring a brake application force of the brake application shaft to the brake disk, and a monitoring device (10). The monitoring device has a measuring element (12) that can be displaced relative to the caliper and is supported on an end surface of the pressure screw facing away from the brake disk. An independent claim is also included for a monitoring device for the above disk brake.
