The device has a half-bridge inverter actuated at an operating frequency. A step down converter is adjusted to deliver voltage of twenty percent of the standard voltage, such that the inverter frequency is reduced. The frequency and an inductor (L1) current value are compared to find a diameter of a cutting tool. Power and delay values required for heating the tool are increased to values corresponding to the diameter. The operating frequency is higher than the maximum possible resonance frequency of the assembly of capacitors, the inductor and the tool.
