Information useful for diagnosis is provided through development of such an algorithm that in a leukocyte particle size pattern containing multiple cell component fractions, the components are separated from each other by carrying out a mixture density approximation utilizing EM algorithm, and that further, similar search noting a distribution pattern of target cell group is carried out by clustering characteristic parameters of the individual fractions, thereby realizing high-precision similar searching for each of the leukocyte cell components or from the comprehensive viewpoint of a combination of cell components.
