RAPPELLING APPARATUS

A rappelling apparatus (10) providing controlled constant speed to a cable (102) unwinding from a rotating spool (100) in frictional engagement with a stationary arcuate surface. Rotation of the spool (100) are responded to by a centrifugal brake (64) acting in inverse proportion to the rotations. An additional brakes (66) is provided for selective actuation by a person using the apparatus (10).
