<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve space saving so that no unnecessary space is left in a lateral place of an apparatus and to easily open a desired position of a paper conveyance path disposed along a lateral face of the apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1 has an interlocking opening mechanism 30 by which a plurality of frame side covers 20 are opened by carrying out an opening operation on any one of the frame side covers 20. The interlocking opening mechanism 30 has rotatable hooks 50 which engage with a main unit 12 and keep the frame side covers 20 in the closed state; levers 40 which rotate the hooks 50 to make the frame side covers 20 free and act as handles for opening the frame side covers 20; pinions 70 fixed on rotating shafts of the frame side covers 20; a rack 80 which engages with the pinions 70 of all the frame side covers 20 and moves up and down in accordance with rotation of the pinions 70; and an interlocking plate 60 which engages with the hooks 50 of all the frame side covers 20 and moves up and down in accordance with rotation of the hooks 50. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
