<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable electronic device which can slide a first case and a second case smoothly and reliably, has good sliding operability, and is free from the restriction of the shape of a product. <P>SOLUTION: A sliding plate 3 is provided on the bottom surface of the first case 1 to be disposed on the top side of the second case 2, and first and second guiding grooves 8, 9 are provided along a longitudinal direction on this sliding plate 3. First and second guide protrusions 12, 13 to be movably inserted into the grooves 8, 9 are provided on the upper surface of the second case 2, and the sliding plate 3 is slidably coupled with the second case 2 by these protrusion parts 12, 13. Accordingly, the sliding plate 3 and the protrusions 12, 13 can be disposed between the cases 1, 2. With this configuration, when the cases 1, 2 are relatively slid, they can be smoothly slid without interfered by the sliding plate 3 and the protrusions 12, 13.
