PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a closing machine which securely avoids flaws found in a closing machine built on a conventional technology. SOLUTION: According to the closing machine, a container to be closed is delivered to a rotor, which rotates around a vertical mechanical shaft, through an entrance for the container, and the closed container is taken out of the rotor through an exit for the container. A plurality of closing positions are formed on the periphery of the rotor, and a screw cap is screwed down on the container, such as a bottle or can, to close the container at respective positions. At each closing position, a container carrier, a container support (1), and a screw unit are arranged, and the screw unit has a screw head on the lower end thereof. The screw head is pivoted on its axis in the height direction, driven to rotate by a driving mechanism, and is kept at a high level while the rotor rotates.
