PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a parallel processing printer capable of preventing hang-up in a paper discharge path or jamming of paper even in a reduced space. SOLUTION: This parallel processing printer comprises a plurality of printing means, a paper discharge section to which a material printed by the printing means is discharged, a common paper discharge path for conveying the printed material to the paper discharge section from each of the printing means, a control section for controlling the printing on the material in each of the printing means and the discharging of the material to the paper discharge section, and a printed material detecting means for detecting whether or not the printed material is in the common paper discharge path. When the printed material detecting means detects the printed material, the control section judges that the material printed by one of the printing means is being conveyed in the common paper discharge path, and then temporarily stops the printing on the material by the other printing means and the discharging thereof.
