The method for securing an image of a biometric authentication feature, comprises the steps of personalising a general transformation function (6), stored in a processing unit (1), by means of a user parameter, to give a personalised transformation function (8), applying the personalised transformation function (8) to the original image of the biometric authentication feature and storage of the transformed image of the biometric authentication feature. The authentication method comprises the steps of assigning a biometric feature on the user for recognition, application of the transformation function, personalised with the user parameter, to said biometric feature for recognition and carrying out an image comparison between the transformed image of the biometric feature for recognition with a stored image, corresponding to a biometric authentication feature.
