PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alternator for a vehicle which can assure waterproofness while preventing the deterioration of a cooling nature. SOLUTION: The alternator 1 for the vehicle includes a stator on which an armature winding is wound, a rotor which is disposed oppositely to the inner peripheral side of the stator, a cooling fan for generating a cooling wind with the rotation of the rotor, a front side housing 41 and a rear side housing 45 which hold the stator and the rotor and in which a cooling wind discharging window is formed at a side, and a waterproof cover 8 disposed at the outer peripheral sides of these housings 41, 45. The waterproof cover 8 has a plurality of vent holes 81 formed in the tilt angle different from that of the cooling wind discharging window. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
