PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To support mail and Internet connection, applications on WEB, and inputs such as registration, and to simplify the operation of a portable terminal. SOLUTION: A parameter such as a character type or character line extracting parameter required for character recognition is automatically set in accordance with a driven application by using an OCR input as an input means to the application without cares by the user. Consequently time and labor for manually selecting an item to be inputted (recognized) can be eliminated and highly accurate character recognition processing can be realized.
