PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To regulate the upper limit height of a platen with respect to the recorder body while sustaining a constant spring force of a supporting spring for pushing up the platen. SOLUTION: The recorder comprises a recording head for recording on a matter to be recorded while reciprocating above that mater, a part for holding a desired gap between the matter to be recorded and the recording head by pushing that matter downward, a platen provided oppositely to the recording head and being pushed downward to form a gap between the recording head and the matter to be recorded, a spring for supporting the platen by pushing it up from below, a part for regulating the upper limit height of the platen, and a part capable of regulating the height at the lower end of the supporting spring and the platen height regulating part with respect to the recording head.
