A light sensor (4) is fitted in the B-pillar (3) and is connected to a control circuit (5). This circuit has connections to the driver's (6) side window (1) and other side windows (2). The windows are made of electrochromic glass so that a part of the glass (8) is darkened by application of an electric current. Passenger's (7) side windows may be left clear or darkened by different amounts.
